Moncur Street House, 2011, Marrickville, NSW.

Split house took advantage of a thin inner urban sites natural fall to split the main living spaces. Three refurbished bedrooms and a bathroom accessed off the main original corridor meet the new work at the rear. The split stair leads to the new living room and down reaches the generous kitchen, dining and backyard. A lofty void connects the two spaces facing a 2 storey glazed wall. A palette of polished concrete and steel cladding contrasts the original rooms and restored early 20th century frontage.
